November 8, 2003

We know, we know. It's been a while without an update. Let's all just blame it on Jason, who should do a better job of prioritizing.

Anyway, lots of stuff to report, so here goes.

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

Well, we made our second annual trip out to the pumpkin patch. Unfortunately, we'd been out shopping all day, and by the time we made it to the patch, a very tired Haley was not a very enthusiatic Haley. However, we picked out a great pumpkin and did the photo op and just enjoyed the feeling of autumn. Even took a picture of the field of pumpkins, only to realize after getting it developed that there was a port-a-potty in the background. Thank goodness for cropping. Haley most enjoyed playing with the straw from the hay bale she sat on for the pictures.

Haley Has a New Cousin!

The end of October was an exciting one, as we welcomed into our family a new, wonderful little cousin: Kennedy Watson. She was born on October 22 to Kelsee's sister, Kourtney, and her husband, Kris. Things were dicey for a little while. Kennedy was having problems breathing on her own, and spent a week in the NICU. However, she got to come home just before Halloween, and has been doing great ever since. Kelsee's parents flew into Seattle and they took Kelsee and Haley down with them to see the new baby. Kelsee spent her time with Kourtney's new little one wishing for a new little one of her own. When Kelsee asked what Haley thought of a new sibling, she was met with a less than thrilled response. Haley didn't have much interest in anything that had to do with the baby. Well, except the baby's pacifier, and poking her in the eyes.

Jason made it down to see everyone just in time for a few "fresh baby" snuggles before Halloween. Which leads us to...

Haley Celebrates Her 2nd Halloween

Miss Haley spent Halloween evening as an extremely adorable clown, courtesy of her mother's great choice in costumes and fabrics, and her grandmother's great sewing ability. She didn't really care too much for the elastic that held her hat on her head, but other than that seemed to like being a clown. She's obviously Jason's daughter. Anyway, we went with her cousin Savannah the princess and her parents to a Trunk-or-Treat at their ward and stocked up on some candy, which none of the adults in the house really needed.

Therapy

Haley had her last visit with Jannel, her OT, because she started in a new Playgroup today. The group meets for an hour and a half once a week, and Haley gets to play while working with a new OT, a speech therapist and a special education teacher. The playgroup consists of playing with toys to work on motor development, singing songs and interacting with other kids to work on communication and social development, and snacktime to work on other motor development and, well, fill the tummy.

Haley will also begin having an hour of speech therapy twice a month, and may continue to receive more OT. She's delayed in only one area of communication, but is in the low end of normal in several other areas of development. It's nice that we have these opportunities to help her in her development.

Well, until the next update...
