Where to start? We had slight scare on Tuesday, Oct. 29 with Haley. While Jason was away at class, Kelsee noticed that Haley had some swelling around the shunt on the back of the head. It looked a little like a bubble under the skin. However, Haley was acting as normal as ever. Kelsee called the Neurosurgeon on call at the Children's Hospital and he recommended we just monitor her behavior and come to the hospital the next day. So, on Wednesday morning, Haley received a blessing and we headed over to the hospital. By the time we got there the swelling was considerably reduced and the doctors were baffled.
Needless to say, Haley's been fine since then. She's a doll, as these pictures prove. She was a bear cub for her first Halloween, thanks to Grandma Kappes' great costume (pictures to come...). However, she slept the entire time we were at our ward party. She also spent some time with cousin Savannah. Each seemed pretty wary of the other.
Haley is a wonderful baby! She's easy to soothe, and has begun coming up with ways to soothe herself (sometimes). She finds the flashing lights and bright colors of the TV pretty mesmerizing, and really seems to enjoy watching football (trust me on this). She also seems to like her swing, which she just started using this week.
Monumental 1st: While Haley has always been a good sleeper, she topped it all earlier this week. We put her to bed one night around midnight, and she didn't wake again until 7:30. So, mom and dad were well rested after that night, right? Wrong. We each got up once just to check on her...
