We had an opportunity to talk via telephone with the birth mother. What an absolutely wonderful experience! She said she wanted to talk with us just to let us know her reasons for needing to place the child for adoption, as well as to tell us why she's chosen us. We talked for over an hour and just really seemed to connect with her. You could really feel the love she has for her children, including this baby. This is a decision she's taken quite seriously.

So it looks like the adoption is as done a deal as adoption can be (there's always the possibility they'll change their minds). We are sooooo excited, and can't wait to finally have a child.
