Where to start?!? This has been a full month for Haley. We enjoyed a great trip down to Oregon for the Fourth of July weekend. Started with a couple of hours at the Pacific Ocean in Cannon Beach, Oregon, on July 3. Haley discovered sand and explored it with her feet, her hands and her mouth. She didn't seem to like the waves at first, but adjusted to it. Afterwards, we headed to Portland and spent the rest of that day and the next with Kourtney, Kris and Savannah. Went shopping, caught the final three plays of a soccer match, lazed around, had a barbeque with Kris's family and some friends, and watched fireworks. It was one of the better shows we'd seen in a while. Haley agreed. Better viewing then from inside the womb. Anyway, Haley seemed to enjoy them. She just sat in her Mommy's lap, drank her bottle and watched the show. She really didn't seem bothered by the decibel level. The next day we headed back to the beach, this time at Long Beach, Washington, where you can drive out on the beach. It was great! Except when we got stuck in the sand in our 4-cylinder, front-wheel drive minivan...
The following week we had a scare with Haley. She woke up Tuesday morning with a fever, listless and with no appetite. Since Haley is almost always happy and energetic (even when she's not feeling well), we had to take the necessary precautions to rule out shunt problems. The pediatrician sent us to Children's Hospital, where Haley had to have a CT scan, shunt series X-rays, and an evaluation. We were pleasantly surpised by the films. Her shunts appear to be working great. The cyst and the ventricles are almost invisible. Good signs that all is well. With the shunts ruled out, we just treated her for a virus. A day or two later, she developed a rash all over. Within a couple of days, the rash was gone and she was back to her normal happy self.
Be the end of this last weekend, Haley continued to astound us with her development. She began saying "ma-ma-ma-ma", crawling on her hands and knees, pulling herself to standing from a kneeling position, cruising without hesitation from one piece of furniture to another, and bending down to pick things up without falling. Today, Kelsee twice went into Haley's bedroom to get her out of the crib, and she was standing in her crib waiting for her Mommy. Wow.
As for Kelsee and Jason, Kelsee was released from the Young Women's organization and called to be 1st Counselor in Primary. Jason's still waiting for a calling. Kelsee absolutely loves being home with Haley, and Jason is enjoying his current school classes.
More to come later. Keep you posted!
