Here's what's up in our world...
Haley had her monthly occupational therapy appointment on Monday. She was able to last almost the whole hour without falling asleep. That's progress... Seriously, she's still doing great. Most things she's doing right on track (and even a little ahead on some). There's one minor concern that the therapist wanted us to work with Haley on. Haley doesn't roll to the left side. She rolls extremely well to the right, but doesn't roll at all to the left. Kids typically favor one side over another, but we just want to make sure that Haley properly develops the muscles on both sides.
We're also going to work with Haley on the next steps to help her progress toward crawling and standing. For example, we'll put a toy on Haley's left side while she's sitting and help her put her left hand on the ground to steady herself while she reaches for the toy with her right hand. This aids children in shifting onto their hands and knees from a sitting position, which helps lead to crawling. We'll also put toys on the couch and lean her standing against the couch.
We received other good news on Monday. We had our monthly visit with the social worker, and she said we can go ahead and begin working with the lawyer to finalize the adoption as soon as possible. This means we don't have to wait for the whole year. Yayyyy! Needless to say, Jason called the lawyer as soon as he got a chance.
Kelsee and Haley head to Kentucky on April 30, leaving Jason a bachelor and childless. He's already trying to figure out ways to help Haley remember him during the 11-day trip. He's pretty sure Kelsee will remember him...
Anyway, that's all for now. Check the new "Haley's Stuff" section for her previous updates.
