Wonderful, wonderful news!!! We've got a court date!!! Jason received a call last week from the lawyer, and on May 10, 2004 at 9:00 a.m., we sign the papers to officially and legally makes Haley ours. We are soooo excited!! Needless to say, after we received the call, we busied ourselves making arrangements. We scheduled an appointment to have Haley sealed to us in the Seattle Temple at 7 pm on Saturday, May 15. Jason will bless Haley in church the next day, and we plan to have a dinner with family and friends on Sunday after church. Grandma and Papaw Kappes are flying in on May 8, and Grandma Dee is flying in on the morning of May 15. It's gonna be great to have our parents in for this wonderful event.

Haley is doing pretty well. We have some concerns about Haley's vision. Haley's physical therapist and pediatrician both agreed with the concerns and now Haley has a visit with an ophthalmologist on June 4. Our concerns stem from the fact that she tilts her head back when she's looking forward and up as opposed to letting her eyes tilt back. That cuts off her view of the floor, which causes her to trip over things frequently. Also, when she does look up by only rolling her eyes up, they become misaligned. Anyway, we'd like to minimize any issues, like a potential lazy eye.

While Haley is an absolute joy, she is going through some frustrating phases. First off, she's become exceptionally picky in her eating habits. About the only things she'll eat are potatoes, crackers, cheese and Nutrigrain breakfast bars. Also, she's begun a hitting phase. And for no reason at all. Sometimes she'll hit you when you tell her no, but other times she'll just walk up and hit you. Other times she just hits herself in the head. We give her a firm "No" or "Don't Hit", then try to hold her if she continues. Usually that quells it, unless she happens to be tired. When she's tired she becomes overly aggressive, so she ends up in bed for a nap.

Haley started nursery at church on March 28 (18 months old, can you believe it??). So far its gone well. The concern with new nursery children is that they'll cry when Mom or Dad leave them. Not Haley. She's too interested and curious. She only cries occasionally, and only when other kids start it (such a follower). We're definitely grateful that she has this opportunity to interact with other kids. Oh, and we're grateful for the two-hour break at church...

Anyway, things are going well. Another update after the big day!
