Can you believe it? Updates less than two weeks apart! It's a miracle!
Anyway, we have some developmental news to share from Haley's 2nd OT session. The appointment with Janelle (last Monday), went pretty good. Once again, after about 45 minutes of playing, Haley was so pooped that she flopped against Mommy's chest and was zonked within a minute of being picked up.
Haley appears to be developing pretty much like any 5-month-old on most things. She's a little ahead as far as attempting to balance herself with her hand when she's sitting. However, she was behind on rolling over (which is about 4 months). We'd been working on that with Haley for the last six weeks or so, but she'd pretty much not shown any interest. We'd put her on her stomach to play, and within minutes, instead of getting mad and flipping herself over, she'd just lay her head on her hands and cry a pitiful little cry.
Needless to say, the following afternoon (Tuesday), Haley was playing on her back under her little gym. Mommy heard Haley grunting and glanced over. Here it is in Mommy's words (from an email to Daddy):
"She was trying so hard to turn over from her back to her tummy. She'd almost make it
and then flop back over.
Anyway, she was really whining and fussing so I was watching her and she
finally flipped herself over. I was clapping and shrieking and ran over to
her. She had the biggest grin on her face! Like "WOW, I did it". It was
adorable. Her eyes all crinkled up and she was smiling from ear to ear.
I put her back under her gym on her back
and within about 2 minutes she had flipped herself over again! I'm so
excited! I did the whole clapping, shrieking thing again and she was just
grinning!
"By that point she was exhausted so I just put her down for a nap. It will be
interesting to see if she'll try again when she gets up."
Haley was so proud of herself, obviously, because within minutes of Daddy coming home from work that evening, she did it again. She's probably done it 8-10 times now. We're so pleased with her! Her whole little life is one miracle after another. We can't wait for her follow-up with her neurologists. We just know they'll be pleased.
